Taking it twice deepened the experience – I’m glad I did it again.

Writers’ Boot Camp is nothing like its pushy name. The AWA method is gentle, encouraging, and established. The prompts are much more effective in a group, and writer strangers (or strange writers) can build community a lot faster than not.

I’ve really enjoyed this workshop. I took this course to get myself into a habit of writing. What I got out of it was so much more. Hearing everyone’s stories was so much fun and the instant feedback helped to guide what was going well with my writing.

When I describe (Writers’ Boot Camp), people are somewhat horrified. But I have raved about it to my fellow writer friends who are more used to conventional workshops. I like how the prompts quickly inspire unusual pieces from everyone, and I’m always surprised what comes from my pen (or my head).

I would encourage anyone who has shown the slightest interest in writing to attend this workshop. It gives some formal structure and discipline to your writing habit and the variety of prompts used proved to me that anything could be used as a topic to write about, and that there could be an infinite number of takes on any one topic.

As a fledgling writer learning both the craft and my own voice, Writers’ Boot Camp gave me a safe environment where I could get positive feedback on my writing and also see a sampling of styles and techniques. I would highly recommend the course to anyone interested in a writing workshop.

Much better than any other writing course I have taken in the last 30 years. I felt free to write from my heart: from my own perspective. The “there are no wrong answers” approach gave me the freedom to write with confidence.

It really helped me to create a space for writing in my life. I loved it.

I hate learning in groups. But this was not a typical writing class. David and his prompts teased more out of us than we suspected was in there!

Whether you are a Global house swapping visitor or a local sculptor carving out your latest words in silence…Writers’ Boot Camp will leave you with a new high voltage grid of creativity that will bring out the “High Noon Cowboy” in any man and an “Anne of one thousand and one nights” in any woman, because here, with a simple stroke of the pen, we can see for ourselves how we tug down a tender tear or evoke bellows of deep laughter as we celebrate our inner genius, knowing that the empowered Pen will always be Mightier than any social sword! To arms! In benediction we stand.

Very encouraging, stimulating, lots of fun…and most of all, it got me writing: more, and more creatively, than I had in a long time. The workshop was like being knocked in a direction I hadn’t realized I wanted to go in.

It was awesome! It kick-started my writing regularly outside of class and taught me to enjoy my “voice.” I got exactly what I wanted out of the class. The instructor was excellent and my fellow students provided great feedback.
